title: Kitty Cat
pairing: Garcia/Morgan
rating: M
summary/preview: He doesn't have a thing for cats, but he does have a thing for her.
content notes: None
She curls up next to him on the couch, wriggling against his leg. He spares a hand to run across her back, ruffles behind her ears. He sits and watches some movie on the television, while she purrs and butts her head against him. Her long nails lightly claw at the cushion. His hand absently continues its stroking.
It would be a perfectly normal evening for a man and his pet. And while Penelope Garcia is no animal, and Derek Morgan is allergic to cats, somehow it suits them fine.
A quirky cat-ear headband works its way into her wardrobe and no one comments, because that is just the way Garcia is. Morgan starts calling her “kitty cat” on the phone, which is almost a step up from “baby girl”. And on the days when one of them has had too much, when humanity is just too horrible to deal with, the comforting sounds that issue out of her throat have a decidedly feline quality. It suits them.
She wriggles and writhes in the bedroom, clawing at the blankets as Morgan bends over her from behind. They speak if they need to, to sort out any issues, but they try to make it by on just the noises she makes. She yowls high in her throat when she comes, arching her back and flexing. He grips her hips and pulls her closer to himself, finding completion in the tension of her body, the tight coil of her muscles.
He does not have a thing for cats. They are okay, but nothing special. But Garcia as a cat is a dream come true. All of the normal parts of Garcia, but with no need to temper herself with human emotions or reasoning. Garcia as a cat can be herself. Derek as he owner gets to see that.

One of their cases involves a furry. The team goes about analyzing and speculating. What kind of unsub would want to detach himself from his humanity so much as to adopt animal qualities? What does an emotional resonance with dogs imply? Does he seek out victims with similar kinks, or are they chosen at random, like a wild animal on the loose? The team looks at it as one bit of data in a larger set.
The people in the town are not so reserved. Headlines scream about dog-fucking perverts on the loose. Lock up your daughters, and lock up Fido, he’s coming for you. Garcia knows they are in a state of panic, but every time they mention the sheer unnaturalness of it, she wants to curl up alone.
That night, she leans against him like a human, upright and stuff on the couch. The ears are buried in her dresser. The only noises she makes are words.
He does not say anything about it. He slings an arm over her shoulder and lets it lie there in a light hug.
And eventually, he moves his hand up to scratch behind her ear. A light reminded that this is all okay with him.
She begins to purr. He smiles.
“There’s my kitty cat.”
